BSA, CSOs, businesses unite on World Cleanup Day

September 18 marks World Cleanup Day. Together with advocates joining the worldwide movement, Barangay San Antonio also partakes in the said cause alongside various Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and businesses.

Rotary Club Ortigas Center partners with Barangay San Antonio thru its "Linis Ko, Paligid Ko", a 3-day photography campaign that calls for best cleaning moments at home, in the office, or one's surroundings.

Renowned hotels in Ortigas Center - Holiday Inn and Crowne Plaza - also collaborate with Barangay San Antonio as their employees conduct cleanup drive along ADB Avenue. Hitting two birds in one stone, the hotel management coincides celebration of World Cleanup Day with Housekeeping Week.

As a culminating activity, Barangay San Antonio's Clean & Green Committee, Boskalis, and Banchetto join forces for the cleanup efforts along Pearl Drive. Our very own street sweepers and Boskalis representatives clean the surroundings of the said area, while Banchetto provides food for the volunteers.

Prior to World Cleanup Day, Barangay San Antonio is already committed towards the goal of a #CleanAndGreenBSA. On top of its weekend cleaup drive, BSA has become known for its #ZeroWaste habit, #BasuraToAyuda: Bayanihan Waste Management Program (BWMP) every 4th Saturday of the month.

In a special documentary by PTV, the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) lauds the barangay's one-of-a-kind initiative amid COVID. Kap. Thomas Raymond Lising shares that #BasuraToAyuda is a "brainchild of the pandemic" which has been launched thanks to the active collaboration of Planeta Cares, Bokashi Pinoy Composting, and other environmental groups.

This month's #BasuraToAyuda is set on September 25 (Saturday), 8am-11am. Constituents may turn over recyclable materials such as plastic, ecobricks, beverage cartons, used oil, garments, and bokashied food wastes in designated drop-off points. Those who wish to participate are expected to comply with some detailed guidelines.

From World Cleanup Day onwards, Barangay San Antonio encourages its community members to practice and sustain one's shared responsibility towards Mother Nature.
